I posted about Skeeter's run at the Guinness record a bit ago. This is a follow up to that post. We have trained up dad to be OCD like us. He follows the same routine every feed. For the Snowball/Skeeter pen, he goes in with Snowball and latches himself in with Skeeter locked outside. Wethers are not supposed to get grain. He does not have to apply the carabiner. Skeeter has plenty of time to open the latch but he never even attempts it while dad is in there. Then dad comes out and secures the slide latch with the carabiner and starts refilling water buckets. By the time he gets to Snickerdoodle pony, Snowball has finished his grain and dad removes the carabiner and Skeeter unlatches the slide latch. Skeeter gets a good feeling of accomplishment from this. Over time dad noticed something... Skeeter always left the slide bolt slid back out to the left after having to slide it to the right to open. I guess he likes to leave the slide bolt as he found it!
