First timer Minty kidded last night. She had a beautiful blue eyed doe that looks just like her poppa Sky. I sometimes get the BIGGEST CRUSH on Sky. She was a single kid, This is our first single. It has always been twins, triplets, or quads before. Dad said he is not a fan of singles. With at least two, the mom can clean one while he trains up the other on where the udder is, and then swap them. With a single, the mom is constantly trying to clean the kid and this gets in the way of his training.
Minion had been keeping Minty company, but when she started to kid Minion got put in the pen and then when mom left, he was put into the stall just outside the kidding stall. When dad was getting ready to leave, he noticed that Minion was laying against the door as close to Minty as he could get. See my previous post "Goats on a slide" describing how Minion has that 99th percentile in protective instincts thing going. It is hard to see Minion in the video in the dark, but he is pressed up right next to the door, It made dads eyes leak.
